History on Your Plate, Vermont on Your Glass

Dinner and drinks inside Windsor's landmark 1900 railway depot, open Wednesday through Sunday.

About Us

The building at 26 Depot Ave has been welcoming travelers since 1900, when the Central Vermont Railway ran through town and this depot hummed with arrivals and departures. Today, the trains are gone but the bones remain: the high ceilings, the worn wood, the sense that something worth stopping for happens here. Windsor Station Restaurant & Barroom has claimed that history and turned it into one of the most distinctive dining rooms in the Upper Valley.

Step inside on any evening and the atmosphere does the work before the food even arrives. The main dining room carries the warmth of a place that knows what it is, and the trackside patio extends that feeling outdoors, right where the platform once stood. Guests with four-legged companions are welcome at the dog-friendly outdoor seats, making it a genuinely easy choice for a Vermont evening.

With a 4.6-star rating across more than 660 reviews, the kitchen has clearly earned its reputation. Guests consistently point to food that is fresh and carefully executed, service that turns a Friday-night wait into part of the experience, and desserts that close a meal on a high note. This is the kind of neighborhood restaurant that earns a reserved table on a standing basis.

What We Offer

Windsor Station offers dine-in service Wednesday through Sunday, with the kitchen open from 4:00 PM each evening. Reservations are available and recommended, especially on weekends when the dining room and trackside patio fill quickly.

Can't make it in? Online ordering and takeout let you bring the kitchen home. Gift cards are on hand for anyone who wants to share the experience, and the covered patio with dog-friendly outdoor seating makes the restaurant a natural stop for guests arriving with pets in tow.

Whether you're settling into the historic interior or pulling a chair up on the patio as the Vermont evening cools down, the service is designed to match the setting: unhurried, attentive, and worth every minute.

"My compliments to an amazing chef at the Windsor Station Restaurant. I predictably can judge a restaurant by the bread they serve and the tableware they use. The bread was crusty and the tableware heavy. The salad greens were fresh and crisp. My salmon melted in my mouth it was so perfectly cooked. My husband had the basin street alfredo with homemade linguini that didn't taste like flour. The alfredo sauce was not overwhelmed with butter. Our friends loved the mission salad and their main course pasta all norma. The atmosphere is historic and we got so lucky as to have the Amtrak train arrive at the station just before we entered the restaurant. As a final comment our server was amazing and didn't have a problem splitting our ticket. She did it in record time. Kudos to everyone at Windsor Station Restaurant. I would highly recommend."

"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fantastic Dinner & Outstanding Service We had a great experience here from start to finish. The food was high-quality American-Italian — everything flavorful, well-prepared, and exactly what you hope for when you go out for a comforting, satisfying meal. The atmosphere is one of the highlights. The restaurant is inside an old train station, which gives it a really cozy and unique feel. Our one-year-old even got to see a train go by, which made the night even more memorable for us. Service was truly top tier. We had made a reservation and they were ready before we even sat down — high chair in place, water poured, bread on the table, and everything set up perfectly. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel taken care of the entire time. Overall, a wonderful spot with great food, great service, and a warm, charming setting. Highly recommend for families, date nights, or anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience. We’ll definitely be back!"
